ABOUT US
HOUSE OF GOD

OUR HISTORY

Building additions were completed in 1984 we completed in order to accomodate a House of God Divisional Meeting.

In 1985 the member purchased additional land and a residential  building north of the Sanctuary from Rev. Richard Wilson.  By 2001all properties and mortgages were fully paid.

Further expansions were completed in 2005.

First Coast House of God has been greatly blessed by our Heavenly Father, who has given us favor with Him and with man.  We are thankful and grateful!!

First Coast House of God is a small congregation full of love.  And we're looking to share God's Word & His love with all we encounter!!
In 1979 saints began meeting at the home of Deacon Luther and Mother Ella Jones for worship services.

After Passover of 1980 the Jones men began preparing a sanctuary in Sherwood Square.  The members contacted Bishop S. P. Rawlings  (of House of God International) and informed him oftheir desire to join the House of God.  Distric Superintendent, Bishop John L. Campbell, and saints from Beufort, South Carolina travelled to Jacksonville, Florida to receive the church into the House of God.

In 1981we shared Worship Services with Evangelist Amanda Collins at House of God #3 on Yulee Street.

We rented buildings at 8111 and 8119 New Kings Road in 1982.  A month later, the Lord allowed the members to purchase the buildings and begin renovations.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
The information on this page will briefly let you know what we believe as a church. Feel free to contact us for more information on any of these items. We hope this information will strengthen your stand in the Lord.

  • We believe all Saints (children of God) will be translated. [Col. 3:4; II Thess. 4:15-17; I Cor. 15:51-52]

  • We believe Jesus and God are one. We believe the Father took on flesh and came in the form of a son to redeem man from sin. No other in heaven was worthy. [I Tim. 3:16; Isa. 9:6]

  • We believe all scriptures are valid. The Old Testament is not greater than the New Testament; nor is the New Testament greater than the Old Testament. We must live by the entire book, and it does not contradict itself. [II Tim. 3:16-17; II Pet. 1:21; Rom. 15:4; Psm. 119:105; John 17:17; Isa. 40:8]

  • We believe baptism in the name of Jesus is essential. In so doing we are baptizing in the name of the Father which is God, the Son which is God, and the Holy Ghost which is also God. [Acts 2:38; Mark 16:15; Matt. 28:19; Acts 10:46-48; 22:16]

  • We believe in the observance of all God's feast days rather than religious days instituted by men. [Lev. 23; Acts 2]
  • We believe in the millenium, the thousand years when the Saints will dwell with Jesus and judge the world. [Rev. 20:4-6; I Cor. 6:1-3]

  • We believe in the coming of Jesus and His return for the Saints and reward. [John 5:28-29; 14:1-3; Acts 1:10-11; Matt. 16:27; Rev. 22:1-2; I John 3:2-3]

  • We believe in the new birth, the receiving of the Holy Ghost, speaking in tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance. [Acts 2:1-4; Matt. 18:3; John 3:3; II Cor. 5:17]

  • We emphasize observance of the 7th day Sabbath, Saturday, as a sign between God and his people. [Ex. 20:8-11; Heb. 4:4-10; Gen. 2:1-3; Mark 2:27; Ezek.20:20; Ex. 31:17; Matt. 12:12; Luke 4:2; 23:56]

  • We believe that one day Jesus will return and the dead in God will be resurrected as incorruptible agents to dwell with our Lord. [I Cor. 15:51-55]

  • We believe in the divine power of God and healing according to our faith to believe. [James 5:14-15]

  • We believe in the Holy Sacrament of our Lord's Supper (feetwashing and communion at the same occasion.) [John 13:4-9]

  • We believe in eating a selected diet. God has prepared a menu for the health and welfare of His people. [Lev. 11]

  • We believe in paying tithes, ten percent of our increase and also freewill offerings. [Mal. 3:8-10; Num. 18:21]

  • We believe in wearing apparel conclusive to holy living. We do not stress style but endeavor to dress in line with the teaching of Holiness as taught by the Apostles and the Holy Spirit within.

  • We believe in sanctified, clean living, which sets us apart from many worldly activities. It is our endeavor to die daily to the things of the world and lay aside every weight, which could slow down or hide our spiritual growth. [I John 2:15-16]
